Coffee vs Soil

So the conclusion to our coffee vs regular soil is that it doesn't matter.

Both of these plants are about the same. Although one started of growing faster than the other –  the soil, it ended up evening out.

More Beach Fun Yesterday

Dana and listening

Kim and I are often frustrated by the lack of cooperation from Dana when it is time to do things, and we begin counting after asking time and again.  We have told her that we should not have to count, and this doesn't seem to have helped at all.
So, today I have begun a new tactic; it is a slight alteration of the counting system on which we formerly employed.  I now tell her I am 'going to count to three,' but instead of starting at one, I tell her that I am 'going to count to three, by threes.'
This means that I give her the initial warning and then say 'three!'  If, in the intermediate time she does not comply then whatever punishment we had threatened is now enforced.
Although this tactic has only been used as of this morning, I have used it about three times, and each time it has worked.  Silly, I know, but its worth a shot.

July 4, 2013

Ben and Cyndi came down, stayed at Nicole and Jeffs, and wanted to go to the beach for the 4th. Being a resident here I knew better than to try to venture to the beach at this time of the year, but we did anyhow.  After a while we found parking and had lots of fun!

Later on we went to the Rogers, who took us to a friends house, across the street, and the kids ate desert and played with one another - while the adults played some ultimate Frisbee.

For fireworks we drove as close as we could to the SU parking garage, then walked the remainder to get front-row seats, along with many other people.  The kids, while tired, absolutely loved being so close and having the fireworks right in their faces!
